49ers to roll to its sixth ring

Who’s going to take home the Lombardi Trophy this year? We know one thing for sure, it’ll be one of the Harbaugh brothers.

This Sunday, Super Bowl XLVII (47) will take place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. It will be between the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers and the AFC champion Baltimore Ravens.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has a chance to do something legendary and win a Super Bowl in only his 10th career start. The 49ers come into the game with a 5-0 record in Super Bowl appearances.

Baltimore Ravens quarterback, Joe Flacco, has a chance to put the cherry on top of a magical season.  A win in the big game would go a long way to validate Flacco’s assertion that he is in fact, an elite quarterback.

Ravens Linebacker Ray Lewis would love to go out as a winner on the biggest stage in football. He and the Ravens won in their only Super Bowl appearance in 2000.

So, once again, who’s going to take home the Lombardi trophy?

Sorry Ravens fans, but it’s the 49ers.

The reason I believe the 49ers will be victorious this Sunday is the pistol formation, an offensive scheme that Ray Lewis has never played against in his illustrious career. Some people think it’s a college gimmick, while others think it’s revolutionary.

I think it will be the difference in Super Bowl XLVII.

Colin Kaepernick is arguably the best quarterback to ever run such an offense. He also probably had the most experience with it, running it in his days at the University of Nevada. It’s a scheme that is literally built for him.

His athletic ability makes him a threat to run on any given play. And although Lewis is a legend, I predict he simply will not be able to keep up with the young gun.

Even if the Ravens are able stop the run, Kaepernick has quite an arm. After all, he was drafted by the Chicago Cubs as a pitcher who could throw 93 MPH.  Not only can he throw hard, he also comes into the game with the highest completion percentage in the NFL on passes of 20 yards or more.

The Niners offense is dynamic and their defense is arguably the best in the league. Why would anyone think they’re not going to win?

Now, before all the Ravens fans stop reading, let me explain. It’s not that I don’t believe in what they’ve done to this point in the season. Ray Lewis’ return from injury for the playoffs has given the team a spark that no other player in the league possibly could.

For the Ravens, it will all come down to the play of their quarterback. Flacco believes he is elite. He may never get a better opportunity to prove it than this Sunday.

He’s thrown 8 touchdowns to 0 interceptions this postseason. Only five other quarterbacks in the history of the NFL have done that, and they all went on to win the Super Bowl that year.

Even though Flacco has that promising statistic on his side, someone has to lose and in this case I have to say “Sorry “Cool Joe” Flacco. On the bright side at least he’s going to get a huge contract this offseason.

Super Bowl XLVII  is going to be an outstanding game with many storylines to follow. I predict the outcome will be decided in the last few minutes. Final score: San Francisco 49ers 24, Baltimore Ravens 17.
