For every touchdown the football team scores on the previous Saturday during the month of September, the bookstore gave 5 percent off apparel up to a maximum 25 percent off.

Throughout the month the FCC bookstore instituted the discount to attract more customers. This offer was not just for FCC students it also applies to anyone interested in purchasing FCC apparel, including sweatshirts, hats, t-shirts and jerseys. The idea for this promotion originated from previous attempts to sell FCC merchandise. For example, when FCC bookstore representatives took merchandise to the football games, they noticed an immediate response. Since them, the FCC bookstore has tried to come up with unique and cost effective promotions that are beneficial to both the bookstore and customers alike.

The FCC bookstore promises that the Touchdown Monday promotion will continue next season. However, it will only be in effect during the month of September. Freshman Matthew Alter said, “Wow! That is a pretty good idea to make more money for the FCC bookstore. And we get a percentage off which is nice too cause we benefit from that.”

The promotion officially started Monday Sept 8 after the men’s FCC football team defeated Bakersfield College 31-25. All who purchased apparel received 15 percent off of the original sale price.

Janet Santillan a representative of the FCC bookstore said “Sales increase on Mondays [about] 30-40 percent.”

The success of the men’s football team contributes to the sales of merchandise at the FCC bookstore. It is a great way to expose both the football team and the school in general. “In a way it brings students together and gives our school something to be proud of and celebrate” said Mike Andrews

Since the success of the first game, the Monday’s following have shown to be just as successful for both the football team and the bookstore. The men’s football team has had an undefeated season so far, with four wins and six games to go. The men are on the right path towards accomplishing their championship goals.

Throughout the month of September the percentage off of the apparel has ranged from 15 percent to 20 percent off. Concluding the promotion for this season the men’s football team scored three touchdowns, allowing customers to take an additional 15 percent off of their final purchases.
