There are many reasons why society should become more environmentally aware; alarming climate change, melting Arctic ice, and frightening dooms day predictions by scientists. Some people argue that global warming is not a man made phenomenon but rather nature takings its natural course. However, many scientists tend to disagree with that notion. Industrialization, pollution, and deforestation have all contributed to an increase in greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, which trap heat near the Earth’s surface. Thus, we can all take responsibility and make an extra effort to help the environment. Many people do not realize that it takes very little effort to help the environment, such as recycling your cans instead of throwing them in the trash. I am happy to report and planet earth will be happy to hear, that there are environmentally conscious students right here on the Fresno City campus. Here are some FCC students that take their time to protect this beautiful place we call “planet earth.”
