    Fresno City College Presents Homecoming revised

    A tiara, a crown, a football game, cheerleaders, spirit, dancing, and fun; what does that spell? HOMECOMING! Fresno City College presents its annual Homecoming.
    Homecoming week begins October 8 and will run through October 13.Tickets can be purchased in the college activities office. The theme for this years Homecoming will be “Rams on Safari.” This is a great chance for FCC students to get involved in college activities and have some fun and gain a lot of school spirit.
    Homecoming tailgate festivities start October 13th at 4:30 p.m. at Ratcliffe stadium. On that same day, the FCC Rams will play for victory against West Hills College. Kick-off will be at 7 p.m.
    What is Homecoming without royalty? Fresno City College students will be able to elect their very own king and queen. All candidates attended a mandatory candidate meeting on Oct. 2, where the candidates learned about the rules and regulations of the campaign. Voting for Homecoming royalty will be held for three days; Oct. 9 and 10, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    The royal court application for homecoming 2007 requires all candidates to be registered FCC students with at least six units, a 2.0 cumulative G.P.A, ASB ID card, and attendance for a mandatory candidate’s meeting. All candidates were required to fill out an application containing information regarding their career objective, extracurricular activities, and thier interest in becoming homecoming king or queen. There are five candidates for homecoming queen and only one candidate for king.

    Age: 18
    Major: Music and business
    Extra-curricular activities: sings and dances
    Why should we vote for him: Charlie said that he is full of school pride, is outgoing, optimistic, and open to making new friends.
    Something interesting about him: He plays the tuba and enjoys creating light shows.

    QEEEN

    KIA YANG
    Age: 26
    Major: Nursing
    Extra-curricular activities: Secretary of Hmong Club
    Why should we vote for her: Yang believes that she can be a positive role model for the college community and encourage other students to get more involved in college activities.
    Something interesting about her: She is a single mother, balancing school, work, and extra-curricular activities.

    ERIKA J. GUTIERREZ
    Age: 20
    Major: Liberal Arts
    Extra-curricular activities: President of the Latin American Student Organization, works for the college activities office, and is involved in her church youth group. She also does a lot of community service
    Why should we vote for her: Gutierrez wants to be the first to break the tradition of popular students running for homecoming royalty. She wants to represent her LASO club and show other FCC students that the crown does not only belong to the popular club.
    Something interesting about her: Gutierrez is the one person that the college activities offic turns to when they need something to get done. She also makes a lot of videos for the college activities office.

    BRINESHA SIMON
    Age: 18
    Major: Child Development
    Extra-curricular activities: Plays basketball outside of FCC
    Why should we vote for her: Simon says that she is an outgoing individual who likes to make people smile, and overall sees herself as a people-person.
    Something interesting about her: She is a big comedian, always making others laugh. She also enjoys singing and dancing.

    ASMA ZIYADA
    Age: 18
    Major: Psychology
    Extra-curricular activities: Plays soccer outside of school and enjoys snowboarding and surfing
    Why should we vote for her: Simon said that she has an outgoing personality and wants to represent Fresno City College. She believes that she can represent FCC well because she is always positive and believes little can discourage her or bring her down.
    Something interesting about her: Although most people mistake her for a Latin American, Ziyada is actually of Arabic origin. She speaks fluent Arabic and embraces all parts of the culture, including belly-dancing, something she enjoys very much.

    YOSAGANDHI (JOSIE) GONZALEZ
    Age: 17
    Major: Architecture
    Extra-curricular activities: Plays tennis and dances, outside of FCC
    Why should we vote for her: Gonzalez seeks to motivate other students and believes it is important to get involved in school.
    Something interesting about her: She is originally from Arkansas and has traveled to places such as Brazil and New York. Gonzalez enjoys riding horses and owns three horses.

    Homecoming week is going to be full of action and excitement. It is an opportunity for all FCC students to get more involved on campus. In the midst of tests, essays, and homework, take a break by supporting the FCC Rams during the Homecoming football game. Get your dance on at the festivities or come out and support your royalty candidates.
