Virtual Campus Voices: What Students Miss About Fresno City Colleges Campus

A year into the pandemic, students reflect on what they miss most about Fresno City College’s campus.

I miss being able to walk into the library, pull up a chair, sit down to study and look around to see all the bright minds working on their own classes – Orsine Sanchez Quintero, nursing major.

I miss the ambience, seeing students studying in every corner. It is very hard to get motivated to study right now for online classes and not getting to personally meet your classmates and professors. It’s just different when you’re actually there – Marky Santuyo, biology major.

I miss the atmosphere. Fresno City is a beautiful campus and it’s such an experience in itself to see it in person – Sheila Yang, psychology and sociology major. (Photo by: David Richards)
I miss being able to walk around campus and explore. Walking around campus really helped me clear my mind before my next class – Sofia Nicole Gonzalez Carrillo, mathematics major.

I miss being with my friends and performing in front of an audience at the OAB. It is difficult to find ways to perform even if it is a virtual concert but being on campus is way different because then we would do what we all enjoy which is to perform for everyone – Vanessa Rosenthal, music major. I miss the fact that I never even had the chance to step foot on campus and enjoy an actual lecture – Marina Ayala-Trujillo, pre-nursing major. (Photo by: Julie Chavez)
It’s my first year at FCC and I’m upset I haven’t been able to experience the campus. It’s beautiful and I bet it looked even better with students walking to and from classes! – Jennifer Cisneros Garcia, nursing major. (Photo by: David Richards)
I miss the FCC library the most. It motivated me to finish all my work on time. Now that I work in the comfort of my own house and room, it’s hard to find the motivation – Audrey Moua, English major. (Photo by: Aroara Trimm)
I miss seeing my friends in the halls and singing with some of my favorite people – Shayla Morrill, vocal music major.
