    Rams Fall to Sierra

The Fresno City College Rams fell to the Sierra 20-17 in a game that could have gave them sole possession of being ranked number on Saturday.

“We had the wrong dishes on the table,” said head coach Tony Caviglia. His team fell short in a game that forced them to play through a lot of tedious controversies.

It was a tough game that took place on a rain drenched football field. The Wolverines of Sierra running back Camon Muldrow took 50 attempts to get his 245 yards on a defense the was ranked at least number 2 in the league.

“It was phenomenal,” said Muldrow, “The plan was for me to run the ball 40 times.”

Head coach of the Wolverines, Jeff Tisdel considered the victory over the Rams a monumental accomplishment for their program, “It was the monumental win in our school history.” He went on to say, “I was very concerned going into the game,” because he knew that the Rams defense was a force to be reckoned with.

It all started going down hill for the Rams at the beginning of the third quarter when Brian threw two interceptions on the first two possessions with one of them returned for 20 yards for a touchdown to tie the game at 14-14.

With 3:27 left in the third, Moniz took a punishing blow that knocked the wind out of him and forced the Rams to play Ronny Torres for the rest of the game. Torres is a quarterback that had not even practice with the team at that position.

Rams backup quarterback Derek Shaw was in San Diego helping family who was dealing with the tragedy of a forest fires move.

At that point in the game, the Rams were down 20 -14. They still managed to muster up enough motivation to work their way close enough to the Wolverines end zone to make a 27-yard field goal by Paul Rodriguez, changing the score to a 20-17 ballgame.

Down by three points in the fourth quarters-with a freshman quarterback that had little to no experience at that position, the Rams were forced to play a one dimensional ball game.

Their running back situation was not at full strength either. Although running back Raymond Neal was having a decent game, he was suffering from cramps that seem to become a concern through out the game after he ran a running 75-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

The No.2 in the Rams one two punch running game Kenny Hedrington was at the game standing in crutches Kenny Hedrington was suffering from a broken foot, which occurred in a previous game- Brandon Thompson .

It all boiled down to a final play in the waning minutes of the game. With 1:29 remaining, Torres tried to hit a wide-open John Blea but the pass was too long forcing the Rams to except the frustrating lost Sierra for the second year in a row.

A victory would have gave the Rams sole position of the No.1 spot because Foothill was defeated by San Francisco, a team that the Rams knocked off earlier this season.
