Fresno City Baseball Continue Winning Streak

The Fresno City College baseball team cruised to a 14-4 victory against College of Sequoias in the final game of a 3-game series on Saturday afternoon at Euless Park.

The Rams came into the game riding a seven game winning streak.

The top of the Ram’s order exploded with multiple hits in the first inning.  In the Rams first at-bat, outfielder Jackson Glines hit a line drive to center field . Anthony Hawkins followed with a single. C.O.S. pitcher Cole Compton walked the Ram’s Justin Flores, and loaded the bases in the bottom of the first. Infielder Ryne Dean drove in both Glines and Hawkins to help the Rams take the early 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third inning, Hawkins hit another single to center field, followed by a stolen base by Hawkins. Dean crushed a home run to the right side of the field allowing Hawkins to score and pushed the Rams’ lead to 4-0 at the top of the fourth inning.

In the bottom of the fourth inning with the score still 4-0, C.O.S. changed pitchers with similar results. With the bases loaded again, the Ram’s designated hitter, Justin Flores, crushed a 2-run triple to push the lead. The top of the Rams order went on to score four runs in the fourth inning.

After the Rams Logan Carter hit for a double in the fifth inning, C.O.S. changed pitchers for the second time as the Rams continued with their power hitting.

Rams catcher Jeff Brown drilled a single to center field, followed by another single to right field from outfielder Christian Parra in the sixth inning

In the top of the sixth inning, C.O.S managed to put up their first score of the game.

Hawkins hit another line drive to left field, Flores hit a single to left field setting up Dean once again as he hit a hard 2-run double to center field allowing Flores and Hawkins to score and extend the Rams lead to 10-1 while forcing C.O.S. to change pitchers once again after the Rams scored another four runs in the sixth inning.

Rams infielder Jack Karraker doubled allowing Flores to score another run. A sacrifice fly from Rams infielder Anders Nelson helped Karraker score the last run of the sixth inning which put the Rams up 12-1.

In the seventh inning, two runs scored by infielders Sal Alvarado then Nick Perez put the game out of reach as FCC soundly defeated C.O.S. 14-4 and extended their win streak to eight consecutive games.

C.O.S. scored a run apiece in the final innings but the late game effort was not enough to put C.O.S. back in the game.

Rams pitcher Devin White had a strong showing. He pitched five innings, faced 18 batters and allowed no runs, three hits and notched two strikeouts before being relieved.

Ryne Dean led the way for the Rams hitters with five RBI’s and a home run in the bottom of the third.

The Rams will take part in the Hancock Tournament on March 26-28 in Santa Maria.

Fresno City College head coach was pleased with the production of the top of the lineup through the entire series.

Scott said “ I thought they were great all week in the three games against C.O.S. They each had 7 hits and drove in 22 runs.”
