March is the time of year where the weather gets warmer, spring arrives and the winter blues are finally gone. For many sports fans, March means madness, and this year the annual March Madness tournament is already a tournament for the ages.
The first two rounds of the tournament have already provided upset and drama as the tournament heads into the Sweet 16 round. Sweet 16 is a term used in March Madness to signify there are 16 teams left in the tournament. To help with your bracket, here are five teams that can go all the way this year and win the tournament.

Duke has won five national championships in the program’s history and are one of the most historic and popular men’s basketball teams in the nation. Duke will hope to return to the final four after a heartbreaking loss to Houston in last year’s final four game. They’ll want to win their first national championship since 2015 and their first since long time head coach Mike Krzyzewski retired in 2022.
The Arizona Wildcats enter the tournament as Big 12 Champions and as one of the favorites to win the tournament. The team is known for their high scoring offense this season which is averaging 86.1 points per game.
Arizona has a complete team that has beaten many of the top teams in the country and they have only lost two games this season to Kansas and Texas Tech, with both teams ranking top 25 in the nation. Both losses were close games that came down to the final minutes.
Arizona is looking to win their second national championship in school history since their first national championship win in 1997. Arizona also hopes to finally make it past the sweet 16 which the last time they did was in 2015 when they reached the elite eight. Arizona will be a team to watch during the tournament.
The Michigan Wolverines enter the tournament as runner-up of the Big 10 Championship as one of the top teams in the nation and one of the favorites to win the tournament. Michigan has a high scoring offense this season, averaging 86.8 points per game.
Michigan is looking to win their second national championship in the program’s history since their first national championship win in 1989. Michigan will have high expectations this tournament as they have proven they can compete with the top teams and beat the top teams this season. They hope to get back to the national championship game after their loss against Villanova in the 2018 national championship.
The Purdue Boilermakers enter the tournament as winners of the Big 10 Championship and ranked eighth in the nation in the latest AP Poll. Purdue this season has won games against top teams in the nation but also have lost against teams that they expected to win against. There are mixed feelings about Purdue this season, but they have the potential to go far in this tournament but can not afford any setbacks in the tournament.
Purdue is led by star senior guard Braden Smith who is one of the best players in the nation. Braden Smith is second in the country in assists per game in which he averages 9.0 per game.
Purdue is often one of the top teams in the nation in basketball but has not won a national championship in the program’s history. They have reached the national championship game two times in their history, in 1969 and in 2024.
Purdue will hope to reach the national championship again and finally win their first national championship they have fallen short of.
The UConn Huskies are entering the tournament as one of the favorites to win the tournament and hope to reach the national championship again this year after losing to Florida in the second round last year.
UConn is primarily a defensive team allowing 65.1 points per game this season. Their head coach Dan Hurley is regarded as one of the best head coaches in the nation and has won two national championships in his coaching career.
UConn has won six national championships in the program’s history including winning back to back national championships in 2023-2024. They look to return to the national championship game and prove their critics wrong this season.
