Fresno City Rams Wrestling Hangs On and Beats Modesto Junior College For Their First Home Victory

As the new season begins, the Fresno City College Rams host the Modesto Junior College Pirates in FCC’s first home wrestling match of the year as they defend their title.

The gym is loud with fans cheering and music blasting as the Rams walk into the building ready to take on the Pirates with everyone in the stands electrified.

As the first dual begins the two wrestlers come out tossing each other on the mat as the Rams win the set 14-1.

The Rams won the second set due to a forfeit from the Pirates because the wrestler didn’t make weight.

Into the third set, the Pirates won 8-4 by a decision from the referee. The team score is 16-3 Rams are in the lead.

The adrenaline is moving into the fifth set for the Rams as Nicholas Dehart starts off the set by tossing his opponent in the air furiously. Dehart wins by decision 10-9 which puts the score at 19-3 with the Rams in front.

Modesto Pirates are still in this by winning the sixth set 7-1. The Pirates are slowly fighting their way back from the Rams lead, which is 19-9.

Pirate, Efrain Duenas, steps on the mat with the urge to win this next set. He wins the set with more points the Pirates still trail 19-15.

Ram, Marcos Gamez, fired up after he got a pin over his opponent. Rams lead 25-25.

With two more wrestlers to follow the Rams lost the next set in a tight match as the Pirates were starting to make a comeback.

The final set of the night, the crowd was ready to see this set as the 285 pound set was up next.

With everyone standing out of their seat the Pirates won the match with a pin. However, even with the Pirates taking the set, the Rams won 25-24 over the Pirates in a close dual match.

The Rams will wrestle next at the North Regional Dual Championship at Sierra College at 10 a.m.

He works well in premiere pro and editing is really fun when it comes to editing pictures or videos. Julian has taken many different courses over the past semesters that involve editing, photography, social media advertising and some journalism classes. He likes watching sports and he hopes to be working within sports or the media when it comes to journalism. He is an individual that likes making connections with other important individuals. After taking both of these journalist courses A & B it has really taught myself to be more talkative or using different approaches when talking to someone.
