An event hosted by CalMatters will answer questions and explain this year’s primary election in California. The VotingMatters event will be on May 7, held in the Old Administration Building in room 188 and will revolve around their latest copy of their Voter Guide.
CalMatters is a nonprofit and nonpartisan news organization that covers statewide issues within California. For every election cycle, CalMatters creates a detailed Voter Guide that provides information to help people understand what they are voting for.
There will be a guest speaker Dan Hu. Hu is the strategic partnerships of Cal Matters and was previously the executive director of The Yappie, a nonprofit publication centered around Asian American and Pacific Islander news.
There will be free pizza and students are encouraged to stay and engage with each other.
The event, VotingMatters, is a CalMatters event series that brings the Voter Guide to audiences in-person all across California.
The Voter Guide is offered in both English and Spanish and includes information such as when and where to vote, detailed information about the candidates for governor, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Insurance Commissioner, and State Supreme Court and an overview of the race for Lt. Governor, Treasurer, Controller and Attorney General.
