Sophia Wilson, Reporter
Sophia Wilson is a 19-year-old, Fresno born and raised, sophomore at Fresno City College, thrilled to begin her second year with The Rampage. She is currently double majoring in Business Administration and Journalism, with plans to transfer to a four-year university in the fall to pursue a degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations. Sophia aspires to build a career in public relations and believes that a strong foundation in journalism is essential to understanding media from the inside out.
In high school, Sophia fell in love with theater production and has since become deeply involved in both campus and community theatre. At FCC, she worked on Salome as the stage-manager and Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play as the assistant stage-manager. She currently is stage-managing “The Comeuppance” and working as the properties designer of “I and You.” She has also stage-managed several productions, including “Harvey and Anything Goes” at Bullard High School. Beyond campus, Sophia is expanding her presence in the local theatre scene. She stage-managed What the Constitution Means to Me with UR Theatre Company, ran sound for Seussical the Musical with Selma Arts Center. Upcoming credits include stage-managing Grease at Selma Arts Center.
This is Sophia’s second semester formally studying journalism, and she brings to it a mix of curiosity and excitement. When she’s not in the theater, you can usually find her in the library with homework spread across the table, wishing she was reading a book while listening to the rain.
Joel Arellano, Social Media Editor
Joel Arellano is 19 years old and was born in Clovis, California, but raised in Fresno. This is his Third semester at the Rampage, and he is returning as the social media editor. He is currently in his second year of college, majoring in child development with a minor in journalism. However, after joining the rampage in the spring of 2025, he extremely enjoyed his work there and might make journalism his main one.
He grew up in a large family of eight siblings and is the third oldest. He is also a boyfriend, Tio, and a godfather to his niece. He also owns four pets, two dogs named Minnie and Hydie, and two cats named Evie and Franco. Joel has been in the Rampage long enough to have enough experience to know what he’s doing. he loves to write in his free time and is eager to gain even more experience as he plans on sticking around next semester.
When Joel isn’t recording, editing, or posting for the Rampage, he is playing video games on his PS5, reading comic books, and spending time with his family. He also loves film and the process of filmmaking and hopes to work on a film one day. Film is something Joel is hoping to get into this semester, and maybe make his first short film. He hopes his experience with handling social media will help with filmmaking.
