KIDmunity Spring Concert

KIDmunity+Spring+Concert

The  KIDmunity spring concert took place Wednesday April 3 at 7p.m. in Fresno City College’s Old Administration Building. The performers were children from kindergarten through sixth grade who sang, dance, acted and played music instruments. The concert was directed by FCC music instructor Kevin Cooper.

Through the KIDmunity program, local children learn music from different cultures. They also develop their singing voices and learn what singing voice they have.  They execute music reading and learn the basics of playing guitar.  The program also teaches children to become one community.

The concert was titled “Spring” and all the songs were spring themed. The concert involved children stories and children followed along singing.

The concert started with all the children standing on the Auditorium floor as Cooper played the guitar and the children sang “Howdy Do.”

The auditorium audience was more than 100 people. Most of the audience were families of the children as well as music students. The parents looked very excited about their children performing.

Parents were taking lots of photos and recording the concert. Some parents were also directing their children as they performed.

The children all dressed nicely in spring colors and looked super excited about the concert. They were well-prepared and well-organized.

Some of the instruments children used as they sang were flute and guitar. Children as young as age 6 were playing a guitar and kindergartners were playing the flute.

Some performers acted out short skits as the director of the concert told the main story being performed.

KIDmunity asked for donations at the end of the concert. The donations are used to buy music instruments for the program.

KIDmunity also announced their summer camp program, which will be held July 15-21 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The camp takes place at the Big Red Church located at 2131 N Van Ness Blvd.

The camp has a registration fee of $40. For further information you may contact Catherine Cooper @ (559) 797-1543 or email at [email protected]
