Shopping at thrift stores has become popular because it can save money and you find clothing styles that are no longer in style.  Here are five thrift stores that have great deals, as well as some tips for successful thrifting.

First selection: The Downtown Van Ness Strip is close to the Club Casino One and courthouse. Its’ one of the best thrift stores to find the best deals. You find some of the best deals and some items have additional marked down tags. This thrift store is associated with  the Disabled American Veterans Thrift Store, Emerald Thrift Store, American Vintage Thrift, Thrift Mart and Vintage Voola.

Second selection: Yoshi Now is located at 648 Broadway Street in Fresno. At Yoshi Now you will find just about anything: Clothing, shoes, jewelry, hair accessories and even house decor. You can find clothing for as little as 50 cents. Everything at Yoshi Now is marked  at great prices.

Third selection: Thrift Center located at 820 E Shields off of Shields and Maroa. This thrift store is large and has many selections to choose from. You can find house decor and children’s toys for low prices.

Fourth selection: Neighborhood Thrift located in the Tower District on 353 E. Olive. This thrift store is large and well-organized. The people working there are friendly and help find anything you need. It’s a non-profit thrift store, which creates jobs for our community. The prices on clothing are very low.

Fifth Selection: AMVETS Thrift store 4125 E. Shields near freeway 168. AM-Vets is a huge store with wide selections.

Shopping at thrift stores requires time and patience.  It’s not like a department store where you can easily see what’s new and what’s on clearance. At thrift stores, you must look through every piece of clothing to find what you need.

People shop at thrift stores to save some money. But there are some thrift stores that have prices just as high as retail stores. It’s important to know what’s the value is or should be for each item you are shopping for.

At a thrift store you shouldn’t spend more than $10 for any garment.  You might pay a bit more for coats but other than that you should try to stay under $10 if you can.

Lastly you may also try looking into buying at yard sales. Some people really want of get rid of their stuff and you can find clothes, books, home goods and more for as low as 25 cents.
