Volleyball team victorious

The Fresno City College women’s volleyball team was victorious during their home game against Columbia Friday and came away with a 25-11, 25-15, 25-10 sweep.
The Rams have eight wins under their belt and only one loss in conference play. They have won four consecutive conference titles and are now shooting for another.
Currently the Rams are tied with Porterville for the conference lead. The tie came after FCC defeated Porterville only to lose to Reedley by one point.
Head coach Ainger-Schulte said she is proud of her team’s success and believes that finding good recruits is key when building a good team. “We’ve been fortunate to get some really good players coming through here,” she said. Ainger-Schulte also credits other coaching staff for providing the girls with “individualized attention.” She stresses camaraderie amongst the team and the girls take note of it.
“It’s one team. It’s not an individual person doing all the work. We all have to go together and play together,” Celina Huerta, a first year libero on the team said. Huerta said that “staying together” leads to the team’s victories.
Kamiya Dickson has been playing in the middle for FCC since 2009. She has been playing volleyball since junior high school and practices every day. “I am actually a basketball player, but I picked vollleyball,” She said. Dixon says she credits her love for “jumping and hitting” for helping her make this choice. She acknowledges that teamwork plays a big part in the team’s success and also notes their energy as another factor leading to victory.
