The Guarantee Building was agreed to be purchased by State Center Community College District on March 6, 2018, moving the district offices into one building in downtown Fresno.

The State Center Community College District Board of trustees approved moving the district office from the Fresno and Clovis campuses and into downtown Fresno, possibly making room for parking and a new Math, Science and Engineering building at FCC.

In a board meeting on March 6, the board of trustees approved plans to purchase the Guarantee Building at 1177 Fulton Street as the new district office for $10.6 million. The money for the purchase came from the $485 million Measure C bond.

The Guarantee Building is 12 stories tall and 82,000 square feet. The purchase includes a 642 stall parking structure adjacent to the building.

Currently, the district office has two locations, one adjacent to the Fresno City College campus at 1525 E Weldon Ave, and one at the Clovis Community College Herndon campus at 390 W. Fir Ave.

During a press conference at the Guarantee Building on March 8, Chancellor Paul Parnell said that the moving of the district office from FCC would open up opportunities to expand for parking and construction of the new math, science and engineering facility.

“This is really exciting thing,” Parnell said. “We’re going to be moving 150 in staff and free up parking at Herndon and Fresno City College. Parnell said it will bring all the staff into one building.

Fresno Mayor Lee Brand praised the the moving of the district headquarters to downtown during the press conference.

“This is really big,” Brand said. “The decision by the trustees is a major move and opens up a world of possibilities for students.”
