Art hop: The Art of Revolution

ArtHop is a special event here in Fresno that occurs every first and third Thursday of each month.

ArtHop is a celebration of local artists, their artwork, and the organizations that supports them.

Iners, Par, Peso, and Helloh are renowned artists who frequent ArtHop. Each is celebrated for their own style of artistic differences.

Iners is the owner of Revolution (RVLTN) Art Studios, is an urban art gallery that appeals to a younger demographic then most around town. The gallery has been open for just under three months and showcases graffiti art. Iners has been painting since 1993 and says he does this because it is his passion. He contributes to ArtHop because he wants kids to feel welcomed through his art and to not be intimidated at art shows. Iners enjoys cleaning up the town with his work and he will continue doing this for years to come.

Par is an artist out of RVLTN Art Studios. He has been painting since 1993 and is a regular artist featured in Arte America, a Mexican based art gallery in Fresno. Par has painted murals all over Fresno, the majority of his work being three dimensional and very creative. He hopes his work inspires younger generations to stay out of the streets and realize they have more positive alternative options. Par is known for his intricate line work and realist detail.

Peso is an artist who has been painting since 1988. He is involved with ArtHop at RVLTN Art Studios and has been featured at Arte American over the past 15 years for graffiti art tribute shows. He has also painted murals throughout Fresno and hopes people see his art and vibe with the color combinations he throws together. Peso has been painting for over 20 years so it is obvious he is passionate about his work. Peso says “artists aren’t made, they’re born; either you have it in you or you don’t.”

Helloh is an artist featured at RVLTN Art Studios and has been painting collectively since 1994. He started showing his art at RVLTN to bring graffiti to another level, and to show the positive side of graffiti art. He also says it is a good way to network and meet other artists. Helloh stated that “Revolution is in a good spot right in between the Tower District & downtown Fresno, so it showcases the art in this area and gives kids something positive to look up to and something to respect.” These two places for ArtHop are put together on the first Thursday of each month, and the rest of the venues are on the third Thursday.

Art lovers and enthusiasts who partake in all kinds of different art forms go to ArtHop to “meet and greet with artists and enjoy the reception and music,” said FresnoArtHop.org. Venues are can be located in studio buildings, museums, and other galleries, which open their exhibits to the public at 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Each event is free to participate in, and it is a place where anyone is welcome.
