    Nick Finds Norah

Nick and Norah are two indie music obsessed seniors who both meet after Nick (Michael Cera) and his friends’ gay band “The Jerk offs,” play at a gig in downtown New York City.

When the band ended Norah (Kat Dennings) runs into her Polly Pocket sized nemesis “Tris” who has a typical idiot beef head boyfriend kissing all over her. With Norah only arriving with her party friend Caroline, she panics and tells Tris that she came with her boyfriend.

Feeling pressured to find a boyfriend in a matter of two minutes, Norah comes up to Nick and plants a good one on him not knowing that Tris had just broke up with Nick earlier that day. Seeing Norah kissing Nick, Tris instantly goes into extreme jealous ex-girlfriend mode and starts playing the game twenty, or more like fifty questions.

Upon receiving no answers she walks off with her boy toy trailing behind her. Nick seems flooded with mixed emotions, but ultimately decides to take his friends advice and travel the night with Norah in search of their favorite band, “Where’s Fluffy,” while they take home a wasted Caroline.

After Nick’s hilarious friends jumpstart his (what looks to be) a windup toy car, Norah goes along for the ride once his buddies promise to take care of her borderline unconscious friend. Meanwhile, Tris decides to tag along behind them in a taxi to win a chance to lure Nick away from Norah. Nick being the overly sensitive guy that he is, can’t seem to keep himself from talking about his ex.

His kicked Chihuahua routine was getting on Norah’s last nerves, so while she is trying to bail on his self induced pity party, Nick received a call from his friends explaining how they had lost drunken Caroline. Norah being the responsible friend that she is, makes all of Nick and his friends take a rain check on the scavenger hunt for “Fluffy” and instead go on the route around Manhattan, that Caroline usually takes when she wanders off confused.

Throughout their hunt Nick realizes what kind of person Norah is and decided to finally put Tris out of his mind and take a closer look at what was right in front of him.

The two spent the whole night getting to know each other and could see that maybe there is something real between them both. After they found Caroline and headed back to look for the concert, Tris gets her chance to make a move and try to earn back Nick’s love.

The movie is definitely a feel good film that can appeal to anyone who watches it. It is not the typical teen movie where each character has a cliché personality that nobody actually relates to. The characters each had noticeable flaws and personality traits that most people can find within their own group of friends.

The humor in this movie is definitely not slapstick and overdramatic, instead it is subtle. In the fact, you could actually imagine someone saying them, with an undertone of sarcasm and honesty.

The performances in this film was original and definitely up to par. Each character looked like everyday people and not thirty year olds trying to be 18.

This movie may not be publicized as much as Juno and Superbad, but it does not by any means make it not as good. In this reporter’s opinion it is this falls must see.
