Fresno City College is on a Safari!!!

Fresno City College is on a SAFARI!!!

    By: Pedro Quintana

With homecoming just starting, the student activities want to

pump up the students spirit. During the past years, homecoming has been

forgotten by many students. This year’s event was organized by Maile Glover assistant activities director and her assistants. The team worked diligently to make sure that 2007 was going to be the year the students would get more involved in their school events.

Many FCC students are excited about homecoming, because they have not seen

so much sprit during the past. This week’s homecoming theme is” Ram’s on Safari.” Many freshmen tend not to really get involved in school activities, especially at FCC.

Beginning a career in college has its own stresses and many find little time to get involved. Many students have the impression they are now adults and believe they have out grown school participation because they are now focusing on a career path.

Being involved in your college adds to school spirit. Pride in your school will travel whether you remain or transfer to another four-year college or university.

What most do not realize, is you can put college participation on your transcript. FCC has so many activities being held this week alone, many students have a prime opportunity to get involved.

Tickets purchased before Saturday’s football game will automatically be placed into a prize drawing. Prizes range from a Cricket cell phone and $150.00 Comcast package. To all students carrying their ASB car, a free Ram-burger meal is available on Wednesday, October 10th.

If you’re interested in seeing the outcome of the student activities cart float, they’re preparing a unique Safari Theme cart and will show off their work in front of the campus fountain Wednesday.

Also, anyone wanting to take “sports-break” during the afternoon lunch break this week can head over to the Free Speech area in front of the cafeteria and play games anywhere from volley ball to donut eating contests. Some may even walk away with prizes.

So, this is an opportunity for everyone to get into the school spirit and show off your athletic skills.

FCC’s football team is currently undefeated and they need your support. Do not forget, the homecoming game is Saturday October 13th at 7:00 p.m.
