State Center Community College District Board of Trustees Meeting Highlights Budget Plans

The SCCCD Board of Trustees voted on Tuesday, Sep. 4, to approve the new multi-million dollar budget formula for the 2018-19 fiscal year, the purchase of a new mobile fire training facility, and an increase to the architectural contract for the new-to-come Fresno City College Science Building.

The state’s final budget includes $69.6 million for growth, $269.7 million for the New Funding Formula, $46 million for the College Promise Program, $20 million for Online Education, and one-time funds of $28.5 million for scheduled maintenance and instructional equipment and $100 million for online education.

This new formula is in compliance with the California Community College State Chancellor’s “Vision for Success,” which states that campuses should always design and decide with the student in mind.

The Board of Trustees voted to approve the FCC Fire Academy’s request for a mobile structural fire training facility. This will meet the curriculum requirements of the program and enhance the experience of its students training to become first responders and firefighters.

The board also voted to increase the architectural contract for the FCC New Science Building.

The next Board of Trustees meeting will be held on Oct. 2, 2018 beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Madera Center.
