White Wasteland Concert Review

Over the past few years, the Fresno rave scene has grown rapidly. Just as electronic dance music (EDM) has risen slowly out of the underground to the mainstream, the ravers of the Central Valley have steadily helped EDM solidify itself into the universe of Fresno music. Adding to this process is White Wasteland, a one-night concert showcasing some of the best the lifestyle had to offer.

With the dynamic atmosphere of lighting and bliss, White Wasteland felt like standing in a light bulb. Tons of attendees were dressed all in white to add detail to that atmosphere, and it paid off. The place was packed. Whether a person was a diehard fan or a newcomer, everyone came together. It was nice to see a crowd come together like that.

“The music was mainly trap with a blend of EDM, and the crowd kept moving the entire night. It was a closely knit group, even with new people. I would have highly recommended it to anyone,” local raver Brontee Anna Vengeange said.

The music was very enjoyable. The headlining DJs, Jimmy Burns and Kayzo, dropped instrumentals reminiscent of Trap music, while still staying close to their House roots. The mix of genres was not immediately enjoyable, became so over time.

I have to agree with Ms. Vengeance. I definitely wasn’t expecting much with this being my first rave, but I had fun, not only as a reporter looking to write on something new, but a potential fan looking for more.

SCORE 5/5
