Ernesto Grijalva, Reporter
Ernesto Joseph Grijalva IV was born on the 3rd of April in 1995 in Vacaville, CA.
The 14th of August in 2014, was the first day of a 4-year contract Ernesto had signed to join the United States Navy. His job (Rate) was Aviation Boatswain Mate Handler (ABH). He helped conduct the launch and recovery of aircraft during flight operations on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower.
He decided that one contract was enough and got out at the end of his first contract. When Ernesto received his discharge paperwork, he then drove from his duty station in Norfolk, VA to Clovis, CA. A few months later he purchased his first home in Fresno, CA.
From there he worked as a Meat Butcher and Supervisor for 2 years. After that he decided to make a radical change and use his military benefits and go to college. He quit his job as a butcher and currently works at the Veteran Resource Center (VRC) on campus.
He majors in Media Journalism and hopes to reach his top dream as a movie director.
Ernesto lives with his dog GG and cat JJ. Everyone could not pronounce his last name in the military, nor his father's when he served, so they called us both “G”. That is where GG’s name came from. JJ’s name came from Ernesto’s favorite movie Jerimiah Johnson.
Ernesto likes to travel, hike, and cook.
Now at 26 years old Ernesto is excited to work with the Fresno City Rampage and learn from the ground up. Ernesto has some amateur photography training, but is very eager to learn more in the Journalism field like better writing skills, editing, and art. He will incorporate his media literacy that was taught last spring from Mrs. Schock
