Fright Night Movie Review

Fright+Night+Movie+Review

Fright Night is the second film to come out in 3D in the last two weeks, and frankly the mediocrity of this teenage date horror would have sufficed in the traditional two dimensions.

The plot line is centered around an isolated upper middle class suburb in the desert just outside of Las Vegas. Here the main character Charley Brewster played by Anton Yelchin finds that he has a suspicious neighbor living next door, only to later find out that the neighbor is none other than a vampire named Jerry (Colin Farrell.) Not only has Jerry been preying on his neighbors and classmates, but now Jerry has the hots for Charley’s mother, and his girlfriend Amy (Imogen Poots.)

Caught in the middle of quite a dilemma charley seeks out the help of “vampire expert,” and Las Vegas performer Peter Vincent (David Tennant.) Together with Vincent, Charley is able to devise a plan in which he attempts to rid the calm Las Vegas suburb of the secret monster living amongst them.

In the process a familiar character in teen movies (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) most famously known as Mc Lovin’ from the 2007 comedy Superbad plays one of Charley’s friends who gets turned into a vampire by Jerry.

Viewers are taken on a moderately comical and weakly scary rollercoaster throughout the course of the film. This film is perfect for viewers who are chaperoning their 13 year-old siblings on their first date out to the movies.
