The 2025-2026 Fresno City College football season is here. “The vibes are good, and the team is feeling great,” Head Coach Tony Caviglia said. After a strong summer program, the Rams are ready and focused for the upcoming season.
However, there were also some major challenges. Most of the Rams played each other in high school and had built rivalries so getting along and respect is a major part of team chemistry.
It’s hard to build a strong chemistry as this is a two-year program, so players are gone every two years.
“As you may know it’s been hot these past couple weeks, so conditioning is important, so he made sure his players were well conditioned and prepared for this heat,” Cavigila said.
On Aug. 30, the Rams hosted the season opener against Diablo Valley College Vikings at 5 p.m. where the Rams lost 10-3. The Rams looked good at the start of the game but the Vikings took control of the game quickly as the Vikings managed to stop the Rams running game. The Vikings had taken a 3-0 lead in the first quarter after the Rams fumbled the ball. As time expired in the first half, the Rams tied the game 3-3.
In the second half, the Rams threw two interceptions to the Vikings, one of those resulted in a Vikings touchdown.
The Rams had forced the Vikings to turn the ball over three times which none resulted in a Rams score.
