The deputy principal at Buchanan High School has been approved as the new athletic director at Fresno City College.

Eric Swain, 50, was approved by the State Center Community College District Board of Trustees and will begin on June 22, 2015.

Swain brings more than 20 years of coaching and teaching experience to a position that has been in the flux since the retirement of long-time athletic director Susan Yates.

Swain served at Buchanan High School as the director of the boys basketball team, learning and athletic director and deputy principal, while also spending two years as athletic director at Clovis North High School .

He holds a bachelor’s degree in general studies from the University of Nevada, Reno and a master’s in education, administrative and Supervision Option from California State University, Fresno.

Swain and his wife, Kelly, live in Clovis and have two children, Ryan, 21 and Sienna, 17.

Swain was born in Wellsville, New York and graduated from Carson High School in Carson City Nevada.

Correction: In the earlier post, Eric Swain was said to have spent the last 10 years only at Buchanan High School. Swain also spent two years as the athletic director at Clovis North High School.
