The Business and Finance club is a new club at Fresno City College. They hold meetings in the Student Senate Chambers in the Student Lounge at FCC every other Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The club aims to provide a place for students to have valuable discussions on effective financial management and business operations.
Jeremiah Sanchez, president of the Business and Finance club, explained that the club started last fall and aims to be a place for students to grow business and entrepreneurship skills.
Sanchez emphasized that the club is welcoming, respectful and fun. The club encourages anyone interested in personal growth and business skills to join.
“The main goal is to grow ourselves as business people and entrepreneurs and to build the entrepreneurial spirit in Fresno and FCC,” Sanchez said.
The Business and Finance club is focused on changing the local culture and entrepreneurial spirit in Fresno by addressing community issues like homelessness and violence to develop young leaders.
The Business and Finance club plans to organize events, fundraisers and collaborate with other campus organizations. The club plans to take a trip to a Tesla plant in Silicon Valley with other clubs.
The club is offering these students hands-on learning during this trip where they will practice skills like networking and investing, and invite guest speakers on subjects such as credit and taxes.
Aaron Pankratz, economics instructor at FCC and adviser for the Business and Finance club, explained that the club is important for helping students understand economics, business, banking, investing and employment opportunities.
“The club helps students understand how the economy and business world work, including banking, saving, loans, investing and starting a business, which is important for students’ practical knowledge and involvement,” Pankratz said.
