A Fresno City College journalism student has been invited to attend a conference for student reporters from across the country.

Patrick Forrest, a former member of the college student-run newspaper, The Rampage, will attend the College Reporter Day in Washington D.C. on April 28.

“I’m scared, I’m excited, I’m nervous,” Forrest said. “This could be an actual opportunity to further my life that can’t be offered in other places.”

Forrest said the invitation to the the country’s highest office is a big surprise.

“It’s the White House,” Forrest said.

Student journalist from dozens of colleges and universities from across the country will engage the White House press corps and senior administration staff.

The student reporters will discuss a range of issues relevant to college campuses and will participate in a press briefing with the White House Press Secretary, Josh Earnest.
