Jeannie Tyrrell

Jeannie Tyrrell, Reporter

Tyrrell is a freelance journalist who studied
journalism in high school and at Fresno City College. She later worked as a
press operator and circulation intern for the Press Democrat from 2018 to
2019. The Covid-19 pandemic put her goal of being an investigative journalist
on hold, but she published a media psychology themed book titled Brain
Drops in 2020. Tyrrell returned to journalism as a staff writer for the Mariposa
Gazette from 2022 to 2023. She covered sports, education, and the outdoors
during her time in Mariposa, while also receiving an honorable mention in the
35th annual George F. Gruner Awards for best sports story and best sports
photo. Tyrrell is set to finish her journalism degree at FCC, then later transfer
to Fresno State University to pursue her teaching credential, or pursue a
career as an investigative journalist.
