The Fresno City College Inter-Club Council (ICC) met on Sept. 25 to plan upcoming campus activities and encourage collaboration among student organizations.
A major event discussed was the Fall Carnival, which takes place Oct. 24 at the University Mall.
Representatives from clubs such as the Film Appreciation Club, Science and Engineering Club, Anime Club, D&D Club and Native American Inter-Tribal Student Association were present to share future plans.
“It’s interclub communications, it helps us bridge the gap between us and other clubs,” said C’Jay Pacheco, a representative of Furries of Fresno City College. “We’ve been working with the art club to potentially get a collaboration up with them.”
Through these meetings new clubs are given the opportunity to create friendly competitions with more established clubs, helping every club get consistent levels of engagement.
“We want to make sure that we’re putting ourselves out there. Which is something that we feel like is essential. It’s also why we’ve been so competitive regarding the fall carnival,” said C’Jay Pacheco.
The ICC ensures equal speaking time for all clubs (two to three minutes) and ends each meeting with an icebreaker to strengthen connections.
The ICC also prepares students to take over important positions at these clubs. During Thursday’s meeting the topic of training for the treasurers of FCC’s clubs was discussed.
By promoting cooperation, the ICC works to enhance the student experience at FCC.
