On Friday May 23, 2025, Fresno City College will be holding a Commencement Ceremony for upcoming graduates at Save Mart Center on Shaw and Chestnut at 6:30 p.m.
The ceremony will also be available for those unable to attend via livestream.
Students who are eligible to participate should have completed an Associate Degree in Summer 2024 or Fall 2024. Students who applied for graduation by April 1, 2025 and got a degree evaluation showing pending completion for Spring 2025 are also eligible to participate in the commencement ceremony, according to FCC’s website.
Graduating students receive RSVP notices via their student email. Graduates should RSVP by May 2, 2025, according to Heather Gray, Office Specialist at FCC.
Graduation attire should be purchased prior to the commencement. Cap, gown, tassel will be available for purchase at the FCC bookstore. Graduates can also get this attire at the annual Countdown to Commencement on April 30, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Veterans Square, according to State Center Community College District.
“Students can purchase their caps and gowns, have a complimentary photo taken in their cap and gown and free hot dogs! Honors students can also pick up their Honors cords at this event,” according to Gray.
Any graduates with physical limitations that could make it difficult to participate, please contact the Disabled Students Programs and Services Office at 1.559.442.8237 for assistance, according to both Gray and the FCC website.
Graduates are able to go in for check in at 4:00 p.m. and should get there before 4:30 p.m. to ensure enough time in Gray’s opinion. Graduates then check in at the Admissions and Records table where they will get their reader card.
Between getting their reader card and being seated students can take advantage of the photo opportunities and props by the graduate entrance.
At 5:30 p.m. Graduates will be seated. Seating is open and they will have ushers on the floor to help guide graduates to their seats according to Gray.
Graduates will then receive a diploma tube with a congratulatory insert once called up and the actual diploma will be sent in the mail according to Gray.
Doors open for guests at 5:00 p.m. Parking will be available at the Save Mart Center for $10, the parking will also be cashless. Payment for parking should be made with credit, debit, or Apple Pay.
