Oct. 4, Pregnancy Care Center arrived on the campus of Fresno City College to offer free pregnancy test and other services to students free of charge.

Pregnancy Care Clinic has been providing services to college students for quite some time now.

Kristi Burkhart, an MPCC employee said “We are a local non-profit. We are run by a board of directors (all from our community) and have been serving this community since 1984.”

Their mobile clinic comes to the campus during the end of the month or the first week of each month, through an invite from the college.

Pregnancy Care Clinic has two locations in Fresno for students who may have missed the mobile campus visit.

Services like pregnancy tests, early ultrasound exams, and abortion pill reversal are available for women. Information on advocacy, resources, referrals, and education are available for both men and women.

All information is kept confidential.

Burkhart stated “As a licensed clinic through the CA Dept.of Public Health, we follow all privacy laws. In addition, contact information is protected, and only the client care team has access to information.”

The mobile clinic has anywhere from 35-60 appointments monthly just from being on college campuses.

The mobile clinic’s staff are currently licensed R.N. or L.V.N. who provide pregnancy testing. Those providing the early ultrasound exams are either licensed radiology technicians or trained nurse sonographers.

There are no requirements to schedule an appointment within each clinic.

All services are free, regardless of having insurance or not.

Students like Alexis Rosales believe some students can benefit from the mobile pregnancy clinic being on campus.

“I think it is a good idea for students that do not have easy access to private testing, due to bad living situations,” Rosales said.

Hours of operation for the Maple and Herndon location are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. The location’s number is 559-765-4128, through call only.

The Tower District, Olive and Van Ness, location is open Monday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The mobile clinic is available through call or text for day location. The phone number is 559-237-0683.

For other everyday resources, FCC Health Services offers a range of health needs like condoms, feminine care products and pregnancy tests inside the building, which is located directly across from the library.
