Which sandwich shop do you prefer? Subway? Quiznos? Togos? Port of Subs?
If you are like the typical consumer, you have a favorite shop, and you stick to it. But have you really allowed yourself to compare your favorite sandwich with another from a competing store? Why not? What you discover may shock you or at least cause you to reconsider your choices.
How do you choose which sandwich shop you like? A Review of the four main sandwich shops reveals a variety of food choices, costs, customer service and cleanliness – all the tools you need to select the perfect place for a quick bite or the perfect sandwich.
Togo’s
Togos was also on Shaw Ave. This sandwich shop has a nice variety of sandwiches, but only in six inch and nine inch subs. All the others offer 12-inch sandwiches. In addition to sandwiches, Togos has a variety of food like salad, soup, wraps, ice cream, and chili. They have five different kinds of bread but only offer mayonnaise and mustard. A Turkey with Swiss on wheat bread cost $7.09. There was a good atmosphere in the store with music and good lighting and a lot of seats. The service was good and it only took four minutes to order and get my food.
Subway
With 33,559 restaurants in 92 countries, Subway is clearly the most established of all of them. Customers are greeted with music and a hello from one of the workers, so far so good.
At the counter, the eatery’s many choices of sandwiches and combinations were evident. The attendant pointed out four different cheeses, six different kinds of bread and nine different sauces. A 12-inch turkey with Swiss cheese and lots of lettuce, onions, pickles, salt and pepper, oil, and vinegar costs $6. A patron gets free water cups. This reporter found the trip to Subway a decent experience and the sandwich tasty, but not very filling.
Port of Subs
Walking into Port of Subs on First and Bullard, the first thing one sees is a big metal machine on the counter. The menu offers about 20 different sandwiches, four different kinds of breads with only mayonnaise and mustard to choose for sauces. The variety isn’t as good as the other sandwich stores, but the store has grilled sandwiches, wraps and salads. Unlike others, Port of Subs has macaroni and potato salad. After ordering, the big machine on the counter cuts the meat and cheese. It is fresh and tastes so and the food is filling.
Quizno’s
Quiznos is another stop on a hunt for the perfect sandwich. One of the first things one notices is that there is no music. The menu at Quiznos is very confusing and posted all over the restaurant. It’s difficult to see the helpers making sandwiches because menu stickers covered the glass. The one thing that Quiznos has that others don’t is a mandatory toaster for their sandwiches. They had more specials than anyone else with their $5, $4, $3, and $2 dollar deals. One could have a Turkey Ranch and Swiss on five choices of bread, ten plus sauces, and a pepper bar.
