On April 1, the latest Student Mixer Scavenger Hunt took place at Fresno City College, as part of a monthly event where students have the opportunity to interact with other students.

Student Activities is a club that provides students with ways to have a fun college experience.

Alicia Garza, a Kinesiology major at FCC and part of Student Activities staff  helps organize these events on campus.

According to Garza, the idea behind the scavenger hunt and events like it are more of group efforts instead of individual ideas.

Garza said that her and student activities have done a paint day as well as an event for Mexican independence day.

“We just want to be able to have, you know, an activity for students to do whether it’s a campus, something interactive and fun where they can learn about the campus or just interact with others or maybe find a new place when you sit down,” Garza said.

According to Garza they are unsure when the next event will be,  but it will be shared to FCC Student Activities’ social media.

Anyone can join the event with the average number of attending students being 20.

“The main goal is to get involved and also just to be a place where they can get involved in something or disagree,” Garza said.

Design Science Middle College High School student Harim Meza, who plans to major in computer engineering, would be interested in getting involved in the next scavenger hunt.

“I do like scavenging for stuff, so it definitely would’ve been interesting,” Meza said.

Meza shows interest in these types of events but believes he doesn’t have the time to participate in them.

Adan Barajas, a Kinesiology major at FCC, is interested in a different type of event.

“I think it’d be good for me to socialize and stuff, but I don’t think I’m the type of person who goes out and does that,” Barajas said.

Barajas would be more interested in attending sports events like badminton, tennis, or volleyball.
