Hitting It Home

Two weeks into the 2010 baseball season, the Fresno City College Rams remain undefeated at 4-0.

During the long President’s Day weekend, the Rams defeated Modesto Junior College 3-1 on the road and 21-18 at home.

On Valentine’s Day, the Rams showed no love for the Pirates. First baseman Brett Jones hit a home run over the 350-foot wall in the fifth inning, Nate Delena hit a late grand slam, and third baseman David Rohm batted 3-for-5 with 4 RBI.

The team opened its season Feb. 4, beating Sacramento City College 9-2 and 13-7 in a double-header. Rain led to the cancelation of the last game in the series.

In game 1 against Sac City, center fielder Brandon Henderson led The Rams with 3 RBI and Rohm batted 3-for-4 with 1 RBI. Chris Gonzalez earned the win on the mound, striking out four in four innings in relief of starting pitcher Paul Anaya.

In game 2 against Sac City, Henderson batted 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and Rohm went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. Shortstop Bryce Barger also batted 3-for-5. Rams pitcher Saen Buford got the win, striking out seven in four innings in relief of starting pitcher Michael York.
