Trick or treating isn’t all there is to do on Halloween

Halloween has traditionally been a holiday predominantly geared towards children with costumes and trick-or-treating activities. But it’s not just for kids anymore.

So what’s a college student to do with their week leading up to Halloween night? Plenty, if you know where to go.

On our FCC campus, students can look forward to the FCC “Monster Mash” on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at noon in the Main Fountain area. The event promises a cheer and stunt rally, themed dancers, a costume contest and other miscellaneous Halloween games and fun.

The fourth annual FCC Pumpkin Decorating Contest will take place on Oct. 31.

To enter the contest, participants must submit decorated (not carved) pumpkins to the Student Activities Office today before 5 p.m.

Judging of the pumpkins will be conducted at noon, and displays should be picked up by 5:00 the same day.

The FCC Fall Carnival will take place at Ratcliffe Stadium from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.on Halloween and is considered a “safe alternative” for children for trick-or-treating. Many FCC clubs will participating in this event, and activities include games, food, candy, and more.

According to ASG senator Gao Vang, a highlight of the carnival will include an interactive haunted house.

“We worked with the New Media Club on making this haunted house,” said Vang. “We’ll even have a camera that takes your photo when you’re inside getting scared, and the photos will be available for students via email.”

Additional festivities will include classic carnival games such as bowling, a shooting gallery, and even face painting.

Student Activities is still taking candy donations for the Fall Carnival in their office until 5 p.m. on Oct.30 .

The local radio station 105.1 The Blaze is hosting “The Blaze Halloween Bash 2013” on Thursday, Oct.31 at Fulton 55 at 9 p.m.

The entrance cost is $10 in advance and $12 at the door. The event  will feature live music from Motley Crue tribute band “With Motley Too,” all-female Led Zepplin tribute band  “Lady Zep” and “Lords of this World” among others. This is a 21+ event.

If you enjoy everything zombie related, you’ll really enjoy Fresno’s first organized “Zombie Survival Laser Tag” sponsored by The Artourage and the Fresno Zombie Society.

The event will take place at No Surrender Laser Tag located on 5179 N. Blackstone Ave. and costs $20.

There is no specific starting time, it is simply “open at dark.”

If you can’t make it out on Halloween night, you can still experience the event until Nov.3.
