Dance-Rock Band The Slants to perform in OAB

Asian-American rock band The Slants will arrive at Fresno City College on April 3 for a performance and to chat about their journey to trademarking their controversial band name.
The band is slated to speak about their 6-year legal battle at noon in the OAB auditorium and will follow that with a concert at 1 p.m. The Slants have spoken at other colleges, including Harvard, Penn Law and UC Davis, according to a press release.
Bass player Simon Tam contacted business instructor Nancy Holland along with Asian American Studies instructor John Cho in December, asking to speak at the college, according to the press release.
The event is a joint venture between the Speaker’s Forum, Asians in the City and Holland. It is free and open to the public. For more information, call 559-489-2218.
