A newly established resource center designed to help student veterans at Fresno City College opened its doors Wednesday.
FCC and State Center Community College faculty gathered outside Building A near the West OAB wing on campus to witness the ribbon cutting of the new center.
International Students and Veteran Services Center Coordinator, Mary Alfieres had the honor of cutting the ribbon and she also sang the national anthem at the ceremony.
Student-Veteran Counselor, Mario Reposo says the center will be a place for veterans to be themselves and feel welcomed.
“It’s a place for them to heal and to connect with the campus,” Reposo said. “It’s a place that welcomes them, that makes them feel like they belong.”
Services being provided by the new resource center include, certification, counseling and psychological services among others.
